General Rules of the Show
The show will be open to Elmhurst Garden club members and their children, residents of Elmhurst, students attending District 205 and Elmhurst Library employees.
Entries should be placed on Saturday, August 15, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am in the Large Meeting Room, on the first floor at Elmhurst Library.
Show will open to the public at 11:30 am until 5:00 pm on Saturday, August 15. On August 16, the show will be open to the public from 1:00 pm until 4:00pm
Exhibits should be removed on Sunday, August 16, between 4:00pm and 4:30pm.
Only one entry may be exhibited in each class, however you may enter as many classes as desired.
Elmhurst Garden Club will care for exhibits as much as possible, but cannot assume responsibility for damage or loss of exhibits or personal property of the exhibitor.
Artificial plant material is not acceptable in the show
Properties furnished by exhibitor should be marked (out of view) with exhibitors name.
Design Rules
Fresh plant material in the Design Division need not be grown by the exhibitor.
Designs must be the work of the exhibitor
No treatment of fresh plant material is permitted.
A 3 x 5 card, listing major plant material should accompany the design entry.
All designs must fit the specific space and size assigned to the exhibitors.
Horticulture Rules
All entries must have been grown by the exhibitor and been in possession of the exhibitor for a minimum of 2 months
Houseplants must have been in exhibitors possession for 3 months prior to the show.
Foliage is to be included with specimen bloom only if it is naturally attached to the bloom stem
Containers for cut specimens must be clear enough to stem is visible. EGC will provide the containers.
There should be one specimen per container
Entries must be properly identified by botanical name and common name.
Youth Rules
Youth exhibitors must be under 18 years of age.
Youth entries should follow the same Design & Horticulture rules.
Photography Rules
Each photographer may enter 1 photo in each class.
Photos may be Black & White or color
All photos must be 5 x 7 with a 8 x 10 mat. NO Frames.
Photos should label major plant material on a 3 x 5 card
No names on the card, but should be on the back of the photo
All photos must be picked up between 4:00pm and 4:30pm on Sunday.
No photos will be saved
12 pics per class
All photos entries must be the exhibitor’s own work
